»The world is pretty surreal in my eyes. The try of most people to function as 'normal' as possible and to present their life proper and linear seems odd to me. It amuses and inspires me at the same time. I use photography as a medium to get close to people, to get an insight of their different lifestyles and ideas of life conception. My aim is to show daily life and common rituals as simple and complex, boring and absurd as they are. I am not interested in experimenting with different techniques, only the situation I am able to freeze by taking a picture counts.
So I prefer to use a rather small digital camera which is light and doesn't attracts too much attention. My photos can be seen as a very personal visual collection. But additionally they can tell stories and maybe even give an idea of how our society is working by showing only most absurd extracts of it. Although social topics - like globalism, consumerism and modern mass tourism - interest me most, I don't like the classic documentary "misery photography" at all. In my opinion, it is idealised - or better distorted - in the same way as advertising pictures, only in the contrary direction. I think intuition, humour and an open eye is the best way to get an approach.«
