A portrait of the »most unsatisfied city in Germany« according to a poll of the German magazine »Stern« in 2003. The city in Saxony-Anhalt located in the eastern part of Germany is famous for its Bauhaus university and architecture surrounded by beautiful landscape which belongs to the Unesco world heritage. But as many other cities in East Germany, Dessau suffers from a high unemployment rate accompanied by a high movement of the younger and educated inhabitants. Only the old and socially weak people stay. This group project was realised during my studies. Two groups of photo students were selected, every photographer with an own theme. One part travelled to Osnabrück, which was chosen to be the town with the happiest inhabitants, the other one to Dessau, which seemed - according to the survey - to be the city with the most discontent residents
